At the American School of Milan we strive to provide a high quality conference for students and club chaperones alike. With our first event in 2016, our conference is going into its seventh year and we are excited to continue growing from a local one-day conference into a truly international, multi-day conference. With a brand new auditorium, atrium and classrooms, we believe our facilities provide students a unique setting to display their skills as delegates. We also believe that the city of Milan offers schools unique cultural, historical, and entertaining events for schools to attend beyond the conference.

Our first main value of the conference is ENGAGEMENT. We want all students to have the opportunity to participate as often as possible throughout the weekend. More importantly we want to provide opportunities for students to take ownership in our conference from the planning here in Milan to when students from around the globe come to debate. To realize our goal of hosting an engaging conference we wish to ensure that everyone can participate meaningfully by placing both experienced and new delegates in small-sized committees (max 30 delegates). All activities from the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony will be planned in order to maximize engagement.

The second value is for the delegates to have a GROWTH MINDSET. Our MUN club believes whether you are an experienced or new member there is always an opportunity to learn and become a better MUN delegate. Many of the skills that students demonstrate at conference will be transferred to university and into the workplace. With that fact in mind students will receive feedback from their committee chairs as well as given time to reflect at the end of each day. Chairs will also be seeking constructive feedback from their committee members. Most importantly we as a conference will be asking for daily feedback from participants to ensure we are meeting the high standards we have set for ourselves.

Our final value we seek to embrace at our conference is INTERNATIONALISM. While this might be a foregone conclusion to be included at any type of MUN conference, we believe we are uniquely situated to provide students with a truly unique conference due to Milan’s central location. We seek to include schools from all over the world that will help provide delegates with a variety of different perspectives that adds to the international community already present at our school.
