David Boe — CEO and Co-Founder of Cyberlimbic -- spoke to the DISEC committee on the preparation for the weaponisation of pathogens. A bioweapon can be defined as an organism or toxin used to attack humans, plants or animals. This includes a whole range of things, from smallpox — a virus that be used to attack humans — to botox — which is made of a naturally occurring compound — and even bees which were used by the Roman Empire as weapons for opposition. ​

Security council: The SITUATION IN AFGHANISTAN

Afghanistan has experienced global conflict since the Soviet-Afghan war in 1979, which led to the development of resistance and guerilla fighters, such as the Talibans. They emerged in the civil war which followed the the total withdrawal of Soviet troops in 1989, vowing to fight corruption and improve security, all while following the austere form of Islam.  By 1998, the Talibans had taken control of almost all the country.

COVID-19 was first defined as a pandemic of global concern on the 11th March of 2020. Today, it remains a worldwide crisis, giving rise to issues regarding equity surrounding COVID-19 vaccine production and distribution. COVAX — COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access — is a worldwide initiative which aims at the equitable distribution of vaccines. Today, the role of COVAX and it’s dissipation of vaccines has become of great concern. Data has shown that low income countries have been vaccinated significantly less than high income countries.

The state became a democracy in 1958, and it is important to note that in the 1990s, this democracy represented the interests of major political parties while addressing a small minority of the people.

The C40 Committee is excited to welcome all delegates to ASMMUN 2021! The C40 Climate Leadership Group concerns itself with fighting climate change and driving urban action through municipal jurisdiction. This year, ASM has decided to add the C40 committee to one of the many committees that students have been dedicating themselves to in the past years. It is in this same manner that two topics will be debated in the c40 committee this year. ​

The European immigration crisis is presumed to have started in 2011, when the Libyan and Syrian wars began  and the unrest in the Middle East and Africa heightened. The migrants were aided by ‘smugglers’ who would transport them into the continent via boat or truck. By 2016, more than one million people crossed into Europe, the majority of which took enormous risks and embarked on fatal journeys in efforts to escape armed conflict and strive for a better life.
