Martina De Falco
Q: We know what you hoped to learn from this year’s conference, but what did you actually learn?
A: “I learned a lot more about the environment and ways to help reduce climate change and desertification, which is what my committee talked about during the two debate days. I learned that even small actions everyone of us can take can help the environment in some way. It was also very interesting to see how real debating works and to listen to the arguments the delegates made.”
Q: Did you enjoy it? What aspect of the conference did you enjoy the most?
A: “I really enjoyed the overall conference and seeing everyone interact with each other by debating and arguing. I really liked lobbying because I had the opportunity to speak more with other delegates since we weren’t actually debating. I also found it useful since they gave me some good suggestions for my clauses. Something else I loved was the gossip box and the icebreakers where we were able to be ourselves and laugh with each other.”

Q: We know what you hoped to learn from this year’s conference, but what did you actually learn?
A: “I ended up learning about different countries' perspectives on the crisis in Afghanistan and on the use of force in protests. It was interesting to see that some countries that had more conservative approaches to the crisis were actually super into peaceful protests. I learned more about the procedure of MUN since, being a new delegate, I had never done anything like this before. I also learned more terms used in debates.’”
Q: Did you enjoy it? What aspect of the conference did you enjoy the most?
A: “I thoroughly enjoyed the conference, although I think that it being online made it more difficult to get to know people. Despite this I liked being able to interact with people from different schools and talk about their country’s views. Having funny people in my room made the experience more entertaining as well. I enjoyed interacting with the chairs and writing clauses while we were lobbying because you get to talk to people more one-on-one, making it less scary to converse.”

Q: We know what you hoped to learn from this year’s conference, but what did you actually learn?
A: “I feel like I learned a lot more on the debate procedure; with hands-on experiences you learn things much faster. I learned a lot more about the issue that we were discussing, more specifically climate change and desertification. I feel like I now know more than I knew before.”
Q: Did you enjoy it? What aspect of the conference did you enjoy the most?
A: “I actually enjoyed it a lot, more than I thought, even. For me the most fun part is trying to challenge each to think and respond because I feel like if you participate you’re going to have a great experience. Also, just getting to know new people from other schools all over the world just in one call; it was a really cool experience.”
